PDG Plan
Ysgol Bryn Teg School PDG Statement 2024-25
The Pupil Deprivation Grant (PDG) is allocated to schools with pupils who come from low-income families and are currently known to be eligible for free school meals (e-FSM) and pupils who have been looked after continuously for more than six months (LAC).
Schools are expected to make the best use of this funding to implement sustainable strategies that will quickly bring about changes for learners eligible for free school meals or who are LAC.
As a school we have agreed the following three steps:
- to identify the target group of pupils, its characteristics and needs
- to plan interventions which make the most effective use of resources
- to monitor and evaluate the impact of resources
In 2024-25 Ysgol Bryn Teg was provided with a PDG allocation of £101,139 , and Early Years Pupils deprivation grant of £27,600 .
At Ysgol Bryn Teg School we have a comprehensive plan, agreed and monitored by Carmarthenshire Local Authority, to promote progress and remove barriers to learning for students eligible for this funding.
We have used the funding available to:
- Break the link between disadvantage and educational attainment
- Funding staffing to provide literacy / numeracy interventions, nurture groups,
- ELSA support - 2 days across the school
- School to support funding opportunities for trips, residentials and transport.
- Funding staffing in PS1 & 2 to support catch up sessions in RWI and run targeted interventions in class (i.e talkabout)
- Staff in PS1, 2 and 3 to be supported with teamteach training to develop de-escalation strategies for pupils with acute needs
- Interventions for Nursery and Reception classes
- Swansea city community trust - offer cover for PS3 classes on a weekly basis as well as P.E provision
