Support Bryn Teg with Tesco's Stronger Starts
Thu 21 Sep 2023Ysgol Bryn Teg calls out for votes to get a share of Tesco’s Stronger Starts fund
Ysgol Bryn Teg are bidding for a cash boost from the Tesco Stronger Starts initiative. Tesco works with community charity Groundwork to run its community funding scheme, which sees grants of up to £1,500, £1,000 and £500 awarded to local community projects, with a particular focus on children and young people.
Three groups in every community have been shortlisted to receive the cash award and shoppers are being invited to head along to Tesco stores to vote for who they think should take away the top grant.
Our project will provide fruit as part of a healthy breakfast and increase numbers of children starting the day with a healthy nutritious breakfast. Ysgol Bryn Teg is one of the groups on the shortlist.
Providing extra fruit daily would be a great advantage to the children at Ysgol Bryn Teg.
Voting is open in all Tesco stores from early October until the end of January and customers will cast their vote using a token given to them at the check-out each time they shop.

Drop off and collection changes
Wed 20 Sep 202320th September, 2023
Dear parent/carer,
Thank you for your efforts in recent weeks in bringing your child/children into school and continuing to follow our clear arrangements for drop off and collection. A brief update on changes that will come into effect from tomorrow morning, 21st September 2023. This is as a result of the very heavy rain and wind which we experienced this morning, with more forecast for tomorrow. A polite reminder on wearing appropriate clothing, i.e waterproof trousers/wellies/coats, and being on time to gain the most from school life.
Summary:
-
Every morning our breakfast club opens at 8.15am – every child is welcome at Breakfast Club (a consent and dietary form to be filled in – available at front office). The doors close for breakfast club at 8:30 am.
-
For remaining pupils who do not go to Breakfast Club – Dosbarth Gwdihw (Nursery) will continue to be dropped off and collected at the Nursery entrance. Dosbarth Cadno (Reception), Dosbarth Wiwer (Y1) and Aderyn (Y2) – entry and collection will be via the Nursery gates, these gates will open at 8.35 and close at 8.45am for drop off, gates will open for collection at 2.55pm.
-
For the pupils in (Years 3-6) Dosbarth Enfys, Canolfan Yr Ynys, Awyr, Lleuad, Haul and Seren the green double doors to the left of the hall will be open at 8.35 for parents to walk their children to classes. Collection time will be 2.55pm using the same green doors to pick up children outside their classes.
-
Years 5 and 6 have more independence in that they can arrive and leave school on their own (with prior permission).
PLEASE NOTE: Our system of dropping off as outlined above will apply to latecomers, i.e. pupils who arrive after the doors/gates are locked will need to be signed in at the main reception by parents, giving a reason. They will then be walked to their class by their parent/carer and a member of staff.
This will be a trial through to half term and will be reviewed dependent on the success. We appreciate parents' concerns regarding their children getting cold and wet. We feel strongly that an arrangement that offers staff and the wider school community the opportunity to forge strong links has been positive, ultimately benefiting our pupils.
Thank you, in advance, for your continued support.
Mr G Jones, Headteacher
